This is what one of the customers said:

The ideal user for this product is someone who takes pride in the products they own, appreciates the fine details associated with the listening experience and someone who considers themselves an “audiophile.”

I used the following criteria when evaluating this product:
-Comfort
-Durability
-Sound quality
-Aesthetics
-Price

When you first put these on you will realize that these are very comfortable and enjoyable to wear. The earpads are made of soft cloth-like material that feel great on the head and won’t overheat. The adjustable headband will fit any head and it stays in place after adjusting it, so you can lock in your preferred size. The headphone is very lightweight so you will not even notice it on your head.

The HD650 is mostly plastic construction, with a metal mesh on the ear cups. Even though it is mostly plastic, it feels like they could take a beating due to the solid and conservative design approach, which Sennheiser has been using for over a decade.

The sound quality is exceptional in this price range. I have directly compared these headphones to the slightly cheaper HD600 and these sound marginally better and less harsh to my ears. If you prefer a warmer sounder headphone over a neutral sounding headphone you will enjoy the HD650s. When listening to these headphones every instrument can be heard clearly and it may allow you to pinpoint things in music you have never noticed before. The open ear cup design allows for a great sound stage by letting more air into the drivers. This affects the sound by adding more airiness and gives the impression of better separation between instruments. These headphones will sound great with any genre of music as they have a solid mid-range, a high range that shows no signs of sibilance, and an extended low end that provides just the right amount of bass.

Hi-fi headphones are not known for their looks, but rather their sound quality. The HD650 is an exception to this because retains both. The dark grey color will fit in with any desktop or hi-fi setup. The Sennheiser logo on the top of the headband lets people know you mean business when it comes to audio. It is not too bulky when worn and has a clean and sleek look.

It is well known that as you spend more on audio equipment the law of diminishing returns comes into effect. The 650s are right in the sweet spot when it comes to this, even though $500 is a lot for headphones, they sound just as good if not better than more expensive headphones.

Overall you will find these headphones to be worth the premium price as they do not disappoint in any category. For those serious about audio, the HD650s are the way to go.
